Wendy graduated from the University of Singapore with LLB (Hons) in 1978 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1979. She was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1995.

Wendy has acted for local and off shore banks and financial institutions in connection with various financing arrangements and instruments including loan syndications, note issuance facilities, project financing, trade financing, property financing, ship financing and chattel financing. She has also assisted banks and financial institutions in preparing the standard loan and related documentation.

Between 1979 and 1981, Wendy worked as a legal officer in Banque Nationale de Paris. In her capacity as legal officer, she assisted in loan documentation and also reviewed documents prepared by BNP’s external counsel. Between 1981 and 1986, Wendy was a legal assistant in the banking and conveyancing departments of the law firms of Netto Low & Partners and Arthur Loke & Partners. Netto Low & Partners was the namedium-sized law firm with an established practice in banking and shipping law. Arthur Loke & Partners was affiliated to Baker & McKenzie when Wendy was with the firm. She had the opportunity to assist the partners of both Arthur Loke & Partners and Baker & Mckenzie in the banking and finance practice areas.

In February 1986, Wendy started the firm of Wendy Wong, later known as Wendy Wong & Partners. While Wendy’s expertise is in banking, corporate finance, corporate and commercial, conveyancing and trust, Wendy Wong & Partners was a full service firm.

Upon setting up the firm of Wendy Wong, Wendy was appointed by Showa Leasing (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Showa Leasing Japan on a retainer basis to act as their legal adviser. In 1987, she was also appointed by the Singapore Branch of The Fuji Bank Ltd (a Legacy Bank of Mizuho Corporate Bank) on a retainer basis to act as their legal adviser. Both retainers continued till the late 1990 and early 2000 respectively.

In relation to real estate matters, besides assisting purchasers in the retail market, Wendy has advised developers in the purchase and development of land, including structuring the loans for land and construction costs.

When the privatisation of HUDC estates was approved in the mid 1990s, Wendy and her team successfully completed the privatisation of Gillman Heights Estate and Pine Grove Estate. She subsequently assisted in the privatisation of other HUDC estates.

Wendy serves on the Conveyancing Practice Committee of the Law Society. She is a member of the Management Committee of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Singapore Chapter and Council member of the Financial Planning Association of Singapore. Wendy is a qualified trust practitioner and is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners.
